I am proud to be a member of the Board of Directors for LIFT: Legal Information for Families Today.
Their mission is to “enhance access to justice for children and families by providing legal information, community education, and compassionate guidance, while promoting system-wide reform of the courts and public agencies.”
According to their website, LIFT was launched inside Manhattan Family Court in 1996, providing on-the-spot help at a table in the lobby where we answered questions and distributed original “know your rights” publications. Before LIFT, sources of information or guidance for self-represented families in the Family Courts were severely limited. Thus, the service LIFT offered was immediately in-demand and has been the basis for our organization’s growth ever since.
Today, LIFT operates innovative, award-winning programs in the Family Courts and in the community, all of which share the goal of promoting positive outcomes for families and children.
And, they have just introduced their new New York Family Law Navigator — a free, smart tool on LIFT’s website that delivers quick, tailored information on vital questions of child support, custody, visitation and more.
Developed in partnership with Brooklyn Law School students and Neota Logic Inc, the “Navigator” provides a customized, user-friendly experience so anyone can find accurate New York Family Law information and resources specific to their legal case and situation.
Visit liftonline.org/navigator to get started.
