Isn’t it great when lawyers and legislators do something that makes it easier for non-experts to navigate the legal system to help their families?
A “power of attorney” is one of the most widely used legal documents.
It allows people who fear they will no longer be able to manage their own financial affairs to transfer that power to someone else.
And as of this week, there is a new form that is far less complex than the one we have been using since 2010!
The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) led the charge to advance a bill into law that simplifies and improves the state’s power of attorney form for consumers.
